Today's Featured Business: The Blue Bird Café

Some things stand the test of time, like fine china, aged scotch… and The Blue Bird Cafe. First established in the 1920s, The Blue Bird Cafe opened during the time when passenger trains carried summer tourists to Regina Beach, and not long after the era of steamships had ended on Last Mountain Lake.

Businesses came and went, passenger trains became obsolete as the highway came alive with cars headed to the thriving resort town, and still The Blue Bird Café continued to serve up legendary fish and chips – using the original recipe since 1928 – and great meals throughout the summer months. It remains as the one mainstay that hasn’t really changed at all.

Nowadays, when you tell someone that you’ve been to Regina Beach, their first response is, “Did you go to The Blue Bird for fish and chips?!” It’s as though the iconic restaurant is synonymous with a day at the beach, and that’s not simply because the food is always delicious. The Blue Bird Café offers a unique dining experience where families and friends gather on the stairs (which have been refinished this summer with a comfy rubber surface made of recycled tires!) to eat take-out and watch passersby, while others enjoy their meals in the rustic café where the interior design is nothing short of nostalgic.

Whether you're stopping for brunch with the family or grabbing fish and chips to take on the boat, The Blue Bird Cafe is sure to delight both young and old.
